Hiral Bhagat

Born in 1982 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Hiral Bhagat is a distinguished calligrapher and visual artist. She completed her Applied Art course with first class from C. N. College of Fine Arts, Ahmedabad in 2002. Deepening her expertise, she pursued basic and advanced calligraphy courses in Roman and Devanagari scripts from the Achyut Palav School of Calligraphy (2013–2016), and later advanced studies under Kalpesh Gosavi (2015-2016). Hiral further refined her craft through online mentorships with renowned international calligraphers such as Brody Neuenschwander, Marina Soria, Yukimi Annand, and Massimo Polello. She had her debut solo show, CALLIKAVYA, at Amdavad ni Gufa in 2022 and at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in 2023. Group Exhibition at Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Kolkata and The Stainless Gallery, Delhi in 2023. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, festivals and art camps, including at Nehru Centre Art Gallery, Mumbai (2014 & 2017), Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad (2018-2020), the National Calligraphy Festival, Kerala (2019), Indo-Iran art & calligraphy exchange exhibition at Iran Embassy Mumbai (2020), International Calligraphy Art Camp by WZCC (2022), Silk road calligraphy at Iranian National Commission for UNESCO (2021) and the prestigious Kochi-Muziris Biennale’s satellite exhibition (2022-2023), and the 1st Art, Architecture and Design Biennale, Red Fort, Ministry of Culture, Delhi (2023). She conducts workshops and live demonstrations across premier institutions such as CEPT University, IIT Gandhinagar, Anant University, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, Gujarat University, to name a few. Hiral’s contributions have earned her numerous accolades and recognitions. Her works have been displayed internationally at events like Calligraphies in Conversations, USA (2019), Singapore National Library (2019), the Cheongju Jikji World Calligraphy Exhibition, South Korea (2019-2024), etc. She was a winner at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (2019) and Poster Winner and expert workshop conductor at the International conference TYPODAY (2023) and more. Her works are part of esteemed collections including the Gujarat Literature Festival and the Alembic group. Hiral has also been featured several in national and international publications.
